Thanks to funding from the Innovation Fund and the Community Mental Health Transformation we are working in partnership with the Recovery and Well-Being Academy to deliver Inside Stories 4 from October 2023-February 2024. Programme. These are weekly evening workshops for people to looking to find ways of improving their mental well-being. Suitable for people with low mood and low to moderate mental health issues.

Creative Writing for Well-Being

Creative Writing for Well-Being is part of our Inside Stories programme. It is a series of 10 weeks of free creative writing workshops with an experienced creative writing facilitator for people looking to find coping strategies and improve mental well-being.
Steve Wilson from Crave Arts will lead the Creative Writing Workshops. He is an experienced and empathetic tutor who will work with you on trying out different writing styles from poetry, storytelling, dialogue to journalism. Each session will begin with a gentle writing exercise before examples of inspiring work will be read out and discussed. There will be the opportunity to write and read out your work (if you want to) in a friendly and supportive environment. No prior skills needed. Just bring something to write with and something to write on. After 10 weeks you’re work will form part of a writing e-zine.
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain a better understanding about how creative writing can benefit your well-being.
- Feel more confident about creative writing and learn different techniques that can be used to improve your well-being
- To meet new people and have peer to peer support
